Our Partners
- The California State University (CSU) is a primary partner in the CTRP project which has teacher recruitment objectives that conform closely to the priorities of the state system. As part of its long-term compact with Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, the CSU system has committed to doubling its production of math and science teachers. Students earning credentials in these fields and in special education, throughout the CSU system, will have the opportunity to teach in high-need schools in any of the three targeted regions of the state. This project was submitted on behalf of California County Superintendents Educational Services Association, as part of a state-wide solution that will help meet the critical shortage for highly-qualified teachers in math, science and special education in geographic areas that are most in need.
- TEACH California provides information on how to become a credentialed teacher in California. There are sections within their web site that have been organized to answer questions regarding the requirements for becoming a teacher, finding the right teacher preparation program, locating financial aid, checking out schools and school districts, and finding a job.
- California Teacher Corps was established in 2009 as a membership organization that represents the state’s more than 70 alternative certification programs. Helping to increase the pool of talented, committed and diverse teachers in California’s public schools, their goal is to place 100,000 highly-qualified teachers in California communities by 2020. They provide a unified voice for alternative certification programs, effectively and proactively address teacher preparation issues facing California and recruit the best and brightest professionals to teach in the public schools that need them the most. The membership trains second-career teachers, and others committed to working in hard-to-staff schools, who have deep subject-area expertise and who are dedicated to the teaching profession.
